Michael Carrick has done an "excellent job" as Manchester United's interim head coach, according to the club's co-owner Jim Ratcliffe.
The former Red Devils midfielder returned to Old Trafford on a temporary basis in January, following the dismissal of Ruben Amorim.
Carrick has overseen an upturn in fortunes by winning six of his eight games in charge, while his tally of 19 points during this period is the most by any Premier League side.
There have subsequently been calls for the 44-year-old to be given the job on a permanent basis.
However, Ratcliffe would not be drawn on questions regarding extending Carrick's stint in the Old Trafford dugout, saying: "No, not going there.
"He is doing an excellent job, yes, absolutely."
Ratcliffe's immediate focus is on United securing Champions League qualification for the first time in three seasons, with the Red Devils sitting third in the table – ahead of Aston Villa via goal difference.
"Clearly, we are thinking about that [Champions League qualification]," he added. "But there are still seven or eight games to go, so still a while yet."
United have the opportunity to pull clear of Villa – and potentially strengthen their hold on a Champions League place – when the sides go head-to-head at Old Trafford on Sunday.

Its too early to start clamouring for the job to be given to Carrick. From what happened in the past regarding the transition of interim coach to paerment, all the coaches tends to perform very well before the transition. So I will advice to let the status quo remains as it is until after the end of the season. And also interview other well experienced coaches too. Like Ancelotti, Emery, Luis Enrique etc.

It is a lie from a guy who doesn’t know what soccer is that’s Ratcliffe’s comments about Carrick. Wait and see until the EPL season is over.

name a coach since after Mourinho who have won 6matches from 8,either you like Carrick or not his the perfect man for the job. far better than the goat called Amorim. Don't be surprised when you see united in the 2nd position behind Arsenal. Carrick is the best for man united for now ,give him the job and let him transform the club
