Casemiro has admitted there is 'no point' even thinking about titles or the Champions League at Manchester United right now.
The Brazilian midfielder, who has struggled to capture his best form all season, has revealed he has endured sleepless nights as Erik ten Hag's side lurch from one poor display to the next.
In the past week, United have dropped seven points from winning positions late in Premier League matches against Brentford, Chelsea and Liverpool.
They sit sixth in the table, some 22 points adrift of leaders Arsenal and 11 behind Tottenham in fourth and Aston Villa in fifth as they desperately try and make Europe's top competition.
Casemiro, 32, won five Champions League crowns as well as three LaLiga titles with Real Madrid but is honest about United's current prospects of silverware.
'It's difficult. This is the point that bothers me most about not fighting for titles,' he told ESPN Brazil.
'Being 20 points behind first place. Sometimes I can't even sleep to try to think about doing something different. It's reality.
'There's no point in thinking about [winning the] title or Champions League places, we need to think about today's games.
'We need to think about the day-to-day, we had the opportunity to score nine points in the last few games and we scored two. We were upset.
'We have to think game-by-game and focus on the next match, against Bournemouth.'
It came after arch-rivals United and Liverpool played out a thrilling 2-2 draw at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon.
Luis Diaz fired Liverpool in front during a first-half they totally dominated, only for Bruno Fernandes to score from just inside his own half shortly after the break.
Kobbie Mainoo then put United in front during an end-to-end second period, only for Mohamed Salah's late penalty to salvage a point for the title chasers.
Casemiro was pleased with how United responded to the problems that they were caused by Liverpool.
He said: 'The game [vs. Liverpool] was very fast-paced and well played. A classic. We were playing against one of the leaders of the competition and who is going through a good moment. We responded well.
'Both teams had opportunities. The game was good. At home we are strong, but we played against a great team. We have to think about the next match.'
In addition to their quest to finish as high as possible in the Premier League, United are also through to the semi-finals of the FA Cup, where they will take on Coventry.
United are back in Premier League action on Saturday when they face Bournemouth away.

I have discovered most of utd fan's are children last season all praise on him today he should leave now who'll come utd and appreciate it's good to accept and cross our fingertips on our mouth it's a low season and start from there next season
So should fans keep a blind eye and keep singing praises even when their players underperform week in week out?, then who will hold players in question accountable for their shity performance?? I guess yu the opposition fans will do us the honors!

He is right. We need to take the Postecoglou approach of just making progress and knowing if we do, trophies will surely follow

Your biggest mistake was to leave Real Madrid. Your worst luck is to have Ten Hag as a coach
