Chelsea’s Malo Gusto to undergo injury treatment in England

Chelsea have announced today that full-back Malo Gusto, who is now on loan at Lyon following his January transfer to the Premier League side, is to undergo treatment for his muscle injury with the West London outfit’s medical staff.

The Frenchman had gone off injured in Les Gones’ cup tie win over Lille ten days ago, limping off the pitch at the half-hour mark. Laurent Blanc’s men would nevertheless go on to beat Les Dogues on penalties to advance through.

This season, the youth international has seventeen Ligue 1 appearances for his formative club, adding to the 30 he made last year when he took over the position from veteran Léo Dubois and cemented his spot in the starting line-up. Despite Lyon’s middling form in the last two seasons, Gusto himself has impressed, earning a move to the Premier League in a deal that could rise up to €35m including add-ons. He will now get his first taste of life at Chelsea, somewhat earlier than he would have expected.
