Manchester City dominated most of the match, but goals from N'Golo Kante and David Luiz ensured it was Chelsea who triumphed.
Match Report
Manchester City suffered their first Premier League defeat of the season as N'Golo Kante and David Luiz secured a hard-fought 2-0 victory for Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
The reigning champions were on top from the outset, but Pep Guardiola's decision to play Raheem Sterling through the middle in the absence of the injured Sergio Aguero failed to pay dividends and they were unable to regain top spot from Liverpool, who beat Bournemouth 4-0 earlier on Saturday to edge a point clear.
Match Events
8' CHANCE! Sterling's shot saved
Sterling! A golden chance for City goes begging as, following a break from Fernandinho, the England international can't tuck a square pass from the penalty spot past Kepa.
32' CHANCE! Sane's shot blocked
Sane! The Germany man is released with a wonderful throughball and puts Azpilicueta on the ground as he turns him inside out. His shot – and Delph's follow-up – are deflected however and Chelsea survive.
45'GOAL! Chelsea 1-0 Man City (Kante)
KANTE FOR CHELSEA! 1-0! An absolute sucker punch of a goal for the hosts! David Luiz finds Pedro out wide on the right with a long cross, who tips it back to the left flank for Willian. Both he and Alonso can't find space to shoot, but Hazard drifts it back to the Frenchman who arrives with a thundering right foot to put it into the roof of the net.
78'GOAL! Chelsea 2-0 Man City (Luiz)
DAVID LUIZ FOR CHELSEA! 2-0! That is an absolutely fantastic header from the defender to get his first goal in 14 months and double his side's lead! Hazard swings a perfectly weighted corner in, the centre-back rises above the rest of the box and puts a looping header over Ederson into the top-right corner.

What Morata and Giroud couldn't do, N'golo Kante and David Luiz did it with ease. Results like this is good for Football, it shows no one is unbeatable. Assembling the best Players doesn't always guarantee good results. The same Chelsea team that lost against Tottenham Hotspur is the same team that Defeated the ALL CONQUERING Manchester City. For those who thought Pep Guardiola's Players are unstoppable, I hope they can see now that Determination and Dedication can go all the way to Achieve anything against the Most Powerful Group.

too good a performance by Chelsea . Kante , Luiz and Azpilicueta stood out for me Azpi completely nullified Sterling and made him more or less impotent on the pitch And hats off to David Luiz for having a part in both goals and being a hero after his shocking performance at Wembley

For the first time this season, Man City was unable to score a single goal. World class performance by Chelsea kante alone controlled Chelsea's midfield.... Sarri's best performance Kante is the best Chelsea player so Far.. Am so happy

This is something I didn't expect. .at Manchester City could've at least put up a fight but unfortunately I'd was way too easy for Chelsea especially for a game of this intensity and quality

Finally, Man City is beaten but they don't deserve it. They were in possession of the ball most of the time in first half, attacking waves after waves but trailing 1-0 to Kante well taken goal in the dying minutes (1st half). They tried to fight back in the 2nd half, and again conceded another header goal from David Liuz, anyway well done to Chelsea for a job well done.

😂 Oh I get it some may call them over confident a little bit of themselves but Is it bragging if you can back it up..? well lets see you hit them they hits you harder you get in their face they get back right in yours so bisically anything you can do they could do it better and this is not one ☝🏾 of those nice speeches but we all know manchester city is the best team in EPL a defend 1st and ask questions later defense Kevin de bruyne the beast who moves the earth when he runs and a Coach who can come back from any punch he receive through out his career and today was a good day for Chelsea but we all know they are way below our Level so what do you say CITIZENs

Pep said many times we aren’t unbeatable. He’s never claimed to be unstoppable. Just that we play well. And we did but on this occasion Chelsea came out on top. Well done to them

This Nigga wasn’t even watching the game. He probably read that doo doo ass AF stat sheet. If you watched the game Chelsea had such a great 2nd half performance it was scary and a message to all the premier league teams. And I’m not even a Chelsea fan and I know this
