Ross Barkley scored a late equaliser as Chelsea drew 2-2 with Manchester United - leading to a touchline altercation which saw Jose Mourinho dragged away from a flare-up in the mouth of the Stamford Bridge tunnel.
The visitors had looked on course for a rare Premier League win in west London as an Anthony Martial brace cancelled out Antonio Rudiger's opener.
Sportsmail's NICK CALLOW provides his player ratings from the Stamford Bridge encounter.
Chelsea (4-3-3)
Kepa Arrizabalaga - 6
Hard to rate a keeper who had so little to do. Made a good save when he was first called in to action and cannot be faulted for the United goals.
Cesar Azpilicueta - 6
Solid display from the Chelsea captain, not that he had a hugely busy afternoon. Reliable, dependable and held his position well.
Antonio Rudiger - 7
Started purposefully and grew in confidence after his superb first-half header that gave Chelsea the lead. Perfect foil for his more attack-minded fellow centre back Luiz.
David Luiz - 7
Back to his best, under Maurizio Sarri, the Brazilian was a joy to watch with his brilliant first touch and unerring passing from the back.
Marcos Alonso - 5
A threat breaking down the left wing, the Spain international needed to show slightly better control to get on the scoresheet. Poor decision to stay down injured for United's equaliser.
N'Golo Kante - 7
Silently efficient in midfield, he ghosted between the two penalty areas unnoticed. Showed superb positioning, as ever and stifled most attempts by United to break.
Jorginho - 6
The unsung hero of this Chelsea midfield, he knitted things together well with some secure short passing and always made himself available for the ball.
Mateo Kovacic - 7
A revelation since he joined the club, the midfielder was one of the best players in a great first-half team performance despite dropping off the pace after the break.
Eden Hazard - 8
By far and away the best player on the pitch and the Premier League on Saturday day. More first-half performances like this and he really will be battling Lionel Messi and Co to be the best in the world.
Alvaro Morata - 5
Failed to justify his selection ahead of Olivier Giroud. Spent too much time going to ground trying to win free-kicks and did not take up the right positions when there were opportunities to get on the end of potentially decisive crosses and passes.
Willian - 6
Solid if unspectacular match for the South American. Substituted for Pedro when Chelsea were trying to salvage something from the match.
Subs
Ross Barkley - 6 (for Kovacic 69 mins)
Looked strong and confident after his return to the international scene with England. Great late goal.
Pedro - 6 (for Willian 73)
Tried to get in on the attacking action, but was unable to make a telling contribution.
Olivier Giroud - 6 (for Morata 79)
Had one half chance in injury time, but came on too late to make an impact.
Subs not used: Willy Caballero, Cesc Fabregas. Davide Zappacosta, Gary Cahill.
Coach
Maurizio Sarri - 6
Took his team to the top of the league and looks like a genuine title contender in his first season in Premier League football.
Manchester Utd (4-2-3-1)
David de Gea - 7
Nothing he could do about the Rudiger goal and was otherwise steady and composed when called into action. Good save from Kante and a brilliant double stop at the death.
Ashley Young - 6
The player who made a success as a makeshift left-back does not seem so sure of himself on the other side of the defence. Run ragged by Hazard and justifiably booked for a succession of fouls early on, but improved markedly in second half.
Victor Lindelof 6,
Solid match for the central defender, who at least seemed certain of his role and responsibilities – most of the time. Gifted Luiz a great second half free header.
Chris Smalling 5
Not the best performance by the England international central defender, who was occasionally found out of position and beaten in the air.
Luke Shaw 7;
Pick of the United defenders, he celebrated his first match after signing a huge new contract by showing why he is now first choice left back for United.
Paul Pogba 5,
Terrible loss of concentration when he allowed Rudiger to run clear to score Chelsea's opener and never really recovered.
Nemanja Matic 6;
Seemed off the pace early on as he could not cope with Hazard. But who can these days? Was better after the break, as were most fo his team-mates.
Marcus Rashford 7,
The England man looked out of sorts playing so wide on right of midfield, but stuck to his task and became increasingly influential. A player United can now rely on.
Juan Mata 6,
Selected ahead of Scott McTominay, the Spaniard did not disappoint against his former club. Ran out of steam with 15 minutes to go after a lot fo selfless running.
Anthony Martial 8;
Two chance, two goals – what more can one ask of a striker? The French forward did not shy away from the ball despite an anonymous first half and emerged as United's star of the match.
Romelu Lukaku 6.
Failed to have a major impact against his former club, not that he saw much of the ball. That is not easy when playing up front as a solo striker, but at least he stuck manfully to his task.
Subs:
Ander Herrera 6 (for Mata 75) not enough time or opportunity to show what he could do.
Alexis Sanchez 6 (for Rashford 85) five minutes and injury time gave the Chilean no chance to get involved.
Andreas Pereira (for Martial 84) another token late switch as Mourinho tried to run down the lock and get away with all three points.
Coach: Mourinho 6
Must have made another brilliant half-time team talk to get his side back into a match for the second game running. Lost his cool after Chelsea's second, but was provoked and was perhaps understandable under such huge pressure.
Subs not used: Sergio Romero Eric Bailly, Fred, Matteo Darmian
Referee
Mike Dean - 6
A testing afternoon for the man in black, who did not seem to make any terrible decisions and did not make himself the centre of the story.

Hazard was mentioned in the article but not rated... But this wasn't the best match Hazard has played in... Pogba was definitely better than Rashford in the sense that his life saving flick is what released Martial for the first goal and his header is what released Mata for the second whereas Rashford kept losing the ball many more times😢😢😢... But Rashford will improve... Just a throwback to some fans who said Martial was lazy, useless and that Fellaini played better than him... Loooooooseerssssssssssss🤣

AF didn't even remember to rate Eden, such was his performance... mourinho masterclass tactically nullified his threat, a rare off day for Eden, being a Chelsea fan, I commend mourinho on this one..

Pogba was United's best player. Played a part in everything up to their goals... For us it was Rudiger, scored the opening goal and we only conceded when he was up the pitch but while at the back he was solid. Barkley was great too. Martial was good but tbh those were probably the 2 most luckiest goals I've seen in a United Chelsea clash ever. Both practically fell to his feet. Pogba was definitely their best player though. Just wish he'd stop disappearing so much in the smaller games cos I see a good player in him but he keeps making me think he's a fraud... Also if Martial was a false 9 for United they'd score a lot of goals as his conversion ability is amazing...
now like this kind of response coming from a Chelsea fan it shows maturity and better understanding of football let alone this dudes running their mouths here with nothing to say
