Olivier Giroud, Ross Barkley and Callum Hudson-Odoi all scored second-half goals as Chelsea swept aside Malmo in the Europa League.
Match Events
4' CHANCE! Bengtsson's header over the bar
OVER! Reiks is fouled by Rudiger, who put his arm across his opponent over on the left-hand side, and Malmo have the chance to get the ball into the box. Safari's delivery is pretty weak and Chelsea are able to half-clear, but Vindheim plays it back in from the opposite flank and Bengtsson heads over.
33' CLOSE! Azpilicueta's shot saved
CLOSE TO AN OPENER! Much better from Chelsea over the last five minutes. The corner is worked short and Willian, possibly offside, picks out Azpilicueta a few yards from goal, but he does not make the contact he is after - hitting the ball with his thigh - and Dahlin stops it on the line.
40' Dahlin denies Barkley!
DAHLIN DENIES BARKLEY! Chelsea threaten again as Giroud and Barkley exchange passes. Rather than sliding another pass through for his team-mate, Barkley decides to take on the shot from 20 yards and tests Dahlin down the middle.
55'GOAL! Chelsea 1-0 Malmo (Giroud)
GOOOAAAALLLL!!! CHELSEA 1-0 MALMO! Giroud scores his sixth Europa League goal of the season, including his second of this last-32 tie, to all but send the home side through to the next round. Kante creates the goal by picking up a loose ball and carrying it forward to the edge of the box, before laying it off to Willan, who squres for Giroud to tap home a few yards out.
65' DISALLOWED GOAL! Barkley's shot offside
73'Second Yellow Card! Bengtsson sent off
Bengtsson lunges in on Emerson on the edge of the Chelsea box to receive a second yellow card. He initially looked to have got away with it but the referee waited for the Malmo defender to get to his feet before showing him the card.
74'GOAL! Chelsea 2-0 Malmo (Barkley)
GOOOOAAALLL!!! CHELSEA 2-0 MALMO! Barkley adds insult to injury following that red card for Bengtsson as he sends the resulting free-kick up and over the wall. Dahlin can only watch as it flies past him, out of his reach. Great technique from the Chelsea midfielder to seal the victory for good.
84'GOAL! Chelsea 3-0 Malmo (Hudson-Odoi)
GOOOOAAAALLLL!!!! CHELSEA 3-0 MALMO! Hudson-Odoi joins the scoring and it is greeted by the biggest cheer of the day. Willian's crossfield pass is controlled by the youngster and he drives into the box before catching Dahlin out with his early shot into the far corner.
Match Report
Chelsea warmed up for the EFL Cup final with a comfortable 3-0 home victory over Malmo to secure a place in the Europa League's last 16, winning 5-1 on aggregate.
Olivier Giroud and Ross Barkley, who were both on target in establishing a a 2-1 first-leg advantage in Sweden seven days ago, grabbed second-half goals before Callum Hudson-Odoi marked his recall with the third.
Maurizio Sarri will still head into this weekend's daunting match against Manchester City with doubts hanging over his long-term future, a situation that was helped little by a sluggish first half.
But a sharper showing after the restart - and Rasmus Bengtsson's sending off for two yellow cards - led to three goals in 29 minutes and averted further pressure from building on the under-fire Italian.

I can't explain why emerson doesn't start ahead of alonso he has been impressive in all the games he has started this season. hudson really needs to start playing more minutes. he was arguably the most consistent player in the pitch tonight. The goal was fully deserved. Kante is a monster. Malmo fans were magnificent bey continuously keped making noises supporting their players even when they were 3 goals down. all in all chelsea look like a better team when they are playing counter attack rather than sarriball..

Theres not much to say on the win really, it was something that should be routine and finally the best line up was fielded tonight. I'll drop some talking points; 1. Odoi should be starting. If Sarri doesnt see Odoi as an option after this game then he has to go. Odoi is far better than Pedro and probably a bit better than Willian too yet is behind them in the pecking order just cos hes "young". Non of that BS anymore, he plays more simple. 2. Emerson gives you everything that Alonso doesnt. One bad game against Bournemouth and he gets dropped yet Alonso holds his place after the 6-0 beatdown by City, Sarri has to drop Alonso, Emerson is just better plain and simple, not the best but much better than Alonso. 3. Don't get fooled by Barkley, a contribution in the Europa league means nothing if he capitulated against top opposition. I'd still rather either Kante, Kovacic and RLC or Kante, RLC and Jorginho. Barkley for me just is too hit and miss. 4. This was probably our best performance in a long time and this looked like our strongest 11 in a good while. That comes down to the fact that the players that are hungry to play and win got played. 5. Dont get hyped by this win. The city game will still be tough and more than likely, we will get slapped again though not as bad, expect a 3-1 to them. Anyway it was a necessary win and honestly I see the Europa as our main ticket cos with our fixtures coming up, top 4 looks highly unlikely and Europa looks like the better path granted we up our levels. Also with us being in less competition after this weekend, expect the team to start performing again since that's how we functioned under Conte when we won the league purely cos we played for less time than others.

Chelsea and Arsenal share the same fate in everything and fighting harder for who to win EL. Both Europa team are impressive unlike Champions league England team who just waste the slot.

Sarri better start Odoi on Sunday tired of him playing Pedro and Willian over him when we all know CHO is better. If he doesn't start him or play him I don't care if Chelsea sack him.

Our team showed great resilience on the pitch i have to say, Sarri dropped Sarriball and was more direct in his tactics which he should’ve done in our previous matches, Emerson was brilliant, kante magnificent, Hudson was the man of the match overall team performance was top notch and if Sarri can come up with this type of kante approach against Pep Guardiola then Sunday might be another story.

The win was necessary for them , whatever sarri said to the players seems to be working, At least Hudson Odoi was given a chance to play as well as Emerson. Well done blues. Keep winning

The same Kante that Sarri said can't move the ball very fast is the same Person that was moving the Ball like Mbappe+Vinicious and gave Willian that Wonderful Pass that led to Giroud scoring the opening Goal, and also made the run that led to the Disallowed Goal

I forgot to do this but big up the Malmo fans, they kept cheering even after they lost. That's the passion that all clubs should show. Win or lose as long as your team gives their best, they deserve a cheer. If our players out in as much heart as their team did today then even when they lose we would cheer them. Too bad our players dont have the heart that the smaller teams do.....

No Hazard!! no Problem!! I've been telling that Hazard is distracted and has made up his mind to move to Real Madrid, that's why he doesn't give everything.... Instead, start Hudson-Odoi and bench Hazard and then see the results...
