Chelsea transfer news as Ivan Toney makes a move that hints at a potential Brentford exit and the Blues could benefit

Chelsea have been dealt a small boost in their attempts to sign Brentford striker Ivan Toney in the next 12 months after the striker confirmed a big decision he had made.

He has missed the start of the season having also been ruled out of the final month of last campaign as well and was handed an eight month ban by the FA earlier this year following numerous charges of breaking rules around betting on football. That hasn't stopped those in need of a forward doing the groundwork ahead of time though.

Toney still scored 20 times last season for the Bees despite his last appearance coming at the start of May and has elevated his standing in the game with an England call-up as well as strong performances in the top flight. The 27-year-old scored 12 times in his first Premier League season and has added to his play, becoming one of the most feared players outside the top six.

CAA Stellar, lead by Jonathan Barnett, is the agency for some of the top players in the world including Jack Grealish, Edouardo Camavinga and Luke Shaw.

Chelsea themselves have a sizeable cohort with the company as Ben Chilwell, new signing Robert Sanchez, Trevoh Chalobah and Cole Palmer all work with CAA. As well as that, CAA Stellar clients have worked on recent transfers involving Chelsea with Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Billy Gilmour amongst those on the move in the past 12 months.

In what is undoubtedly a contacts game and a relationships one too, having a pre-existing positive standing with CAA may well just help in their attempts to land Toney.
