Chelsea closing in on shock appointment of Joe Shields as director of recruitment from Southampton

Chelsea are closing in on appointing Southampton’s Joe Shields to head up their recruitment.

Shields has only been at Southampton since the summer, starting as their head of senior recruitment in July.

But he has already further enhanced his reputation in his brief time at St Mary’s leading to a surprise move for his services by Chelsea’s new owners.
