Cole Palmer is likely the final addition to Mauricio Pochettino's first team squad having completed his move from Manchester City on transfer deadline day
Cole Palmer has completed his transfer from Manchester City to Chelsea. The 21-year-old makes the move in a £42.5million deal and has signed a seven-year contract with the club holding an option for a further year.
Chelsea are set to pay £40million and a further £2.5million in add ons. Palmer has already scored twice this term as Manchester City won the Community Shield and UEFA Super Cup, and made 14 Premier League appearances in 2022/23 for Pep Guardiola's side. The young attacker twice completed 90 minutes against Chelsea last term.
The Manchester City academy product has featured throughout the England age groups and was part of the England under-21 side that won the European Championships this summer along with Levi Colwill and Noni Madueke. Palmer recorded one goal and three assists in the competition.
He likely represents Chelsea's final incoming transfer to be involved in Mauricio Pochettino's first team.
Upon signing, Palmer said: "I’m excited to get started and it feels great to sign.
"I’ve joined Chelsea because the project here sounds good and because of the platform I will have to try to showcase my talents. It is a young and hungry squad and, hopefully, we can do something special here."
Sporting directors Laurence Stewart and Paul Winstanley said: "Cole arrives with experience of winning the Premier League and Champions League and adds further quality and versatility to our attacking unit.
"He has showcased his talent and potential in the most challenging environments and delivered on the international stage for England this summer at the European Under-21 Championships. He is undoubtedly ready for this next step and we are delighted it will be with Chelsea."

I think letting Palmer leave City is a big mistake. I hope we don't regret in the enar future.

Great signing. For the future, of course. I mean. We need real experience. Dont get me wrong, Palma is talented, is versatile, young and has loads of potential, but Chelsea is already blotted by such kind of the profile of players.
