Chelsea 'are eyeing a move for Bayern Munich ace Robert Lewandowski this summer' should the Premier League club avoid a year-long transfer ban.

The club have appealed the punishment from FIFA and should they be spared, the Polish striker is high on the priority list as the club look to bridge the gap in order to produce a title challenge.

Lewandowski's representatives, according to the Mirror, have had contact with officials at Chelsea to assess the striker's availability, with Bayern set to overhaul their squad.

Lewandowski finds himself at the centre of discussions every summer with Real Madrid long-standing admirers of the former Borussia Dortmund man.

Despite turning 31 in August, Lewandowski would not be allowed to leave the Allianz Arena cheaply and Chelsea, if they do push for a move, could be looking at the prospect of a £70million deal.

The Pole is rightly considered one of the finest strikers in Europe and on Saturday he reached 200 Bundesliga goals in the 5-0 rout against title rivals Dortmund, restoring them to the summit of the table.
