Footage of Chelsea's potential new manager Liam Rosenior delivering a team talk has resurfaced online after Enzo Maresca's shock exit from Stamford Bridge on Thursday.
The Blues wrote a 99-word statement confirming Maresca's departure just hours after reports had emerged on New Year's Eve revealing that the Italian could depart the club following a turbulent end to 2025.
Daily Mail Sport understands the club hope to appoint a new manager within days and that former Hull City and Brighton defender Rosenior, 41, is the bookmakers' favourite on Chelsea's small shortlist.
Eager to see what their potential new manager is like, Chelsea fans uncovered a video on social media on New Year's Day which showed Rosenior passionately giving a team talk to his players at current club Strasbourg.
The video, shared to social media platform X in September 2024, features Rosenior talking in English to his players while a interpreter translates his speech into French.
The 41-year-old, imploring his team to show some fight and passion, says: 'What are we going to do? Are we going to come back to 2-2 after we started the game badly and just take a 2-2? Or even lose the game 3-2? Or are we going to show some f***ing balls and win the game?
'What needs to happen then, is when we're defending every f***er on the pitch has to defend. Every player has to defend! And when the subs come on, you have to give even more energy to win this game. Go and win the game and show more belief.'
Some Chelsea fans were less than impressed by the speech and let their feelings known in the comments.
'New Chelsea manager? I just can't stop laughing,' one fan posted.
'No charisma at all,' a second added. 'What player is gonna fight for this guy?'
A third chimed in and said: 'Another inexperienced coach.'
'Chelsea fans will realise Rosenior is the king of misprofiling players,' a fourth said in another swipe against the manager.
Rosenior began his coaching career at Brighton where he took on the role of assistant coach with the U23s, while occasionally appearing as a pundit on Sky Sports.
In 2019, he moved to Derby County to become a specialist first team coach and briefly took over as interim first team manager three years later following Wayne Rooney's resignation.
Rosenior became Hull City boss in November 2022 and went on to win the EFL Championship Manager of the Season award in 2023-24 after an impressive campaign in charge of the Tigers.
After narrowly missing out on the playoffs the following season, Rosenior was sacked in a decision that shocked many fans given his success since joining the club.
Since July 2024, he has been the manager of Ligue 1 club Strasbourg, who currently sit seventh after qualifying for the Conference League last campaign.

Sometimes the experience of a coach doesn’t really matter. It depends on the qualities at his disposal. Kompany moved from relegated Burnley to coach star-studded Bayern, Xavi left Al-Sadd to win La Liga with a balanced Barca just as Guardiola left Barca B to make a history with Barca first team; the same could be said of Luis Enrique, Tito Villanova of blessed memory. In the same vein Alonso left for Leverkusen to play unbeaten in Bundesliga with little experience in coaching, likewise Zidane enjoyed stellar coaching career with Real Madrid having only being an assistant to Carlo Ancelotti. The question we should ask is this: Does Chelsea have the super stars to complement the efforts of the coach? Do they have the qualities to turn game on its head to their advantage? Chelsea board only packed average players into the team for business purposes due to their age. They are hoping these guys will fulfill their potentials thereby increasing their market values. A board that couldn’t sign Osimhen and a quality CB to add firepower to the squad. Let’s see how it goes anyways.

If his team is 7th with less quality players compared to Chelsea, he'll do more at the disposal of Chelsea talented players. Kompany left Burnley and now doing excellent work with Bayern Munich. He has no experience. Most times, the passion and commitment to do right and succeed is far better than experience. Ibrahim Traore has no experience or elite education. His young. Yet his passion to do right and succeed, is far better than the education, experience and age of many presidents in Africa and beyond. In any area of life, understand today that THE PASSION TO DO RIGHT AND SUCCEED IS FAR BETTER THAN AGE, EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION.
