Chelsea given green light to sign £34m striker amid major Lukaku Juve agreement

Chelsea are said to still be in the market for a new striker this summer despite having struck gold with the signing of Nicolas Jackson

According to Fabrizio Romano, Lukaku has agreed a three-year deal, which includes the option for a fourth, with Juventus. The report states that the Italian giants are keen to offload Vlahovic in the process, offering a player-plus-cash deal which would require Chelsea to pay €40million (£34.4m).

it remains to be seen whether the west Londoners are keen on the Old Lady's proposal, but it's said to be subject to the approval of Pochettino. With the Blues expected to make a decision in the coming days, they've been warned that Vlahovic isn't an upgrade on Lukaku, and he's in fact slower than the Belgian.

"I was surprised when Juventus paid all that money for Vlahovic," pundit Stewart Robson told ESPN, as quoted by The Chelsea Chronicle. "I thought he was a decent player without being a top class player.

"He’s not got a great burst of pace. He’s certainly not as quick as Lukaku. He’s okay with his back to goal. The only area where he’s better than Lukaku is when balls come into the box in the air. I think Juventus paid well over the odds for him. I think if he went to Chelsea I’m not sure how well he would do there."

Earlier this summer, Pochettino revealed that he's happy with how Jackson and Christopher Nkunku have settled in, but insisted that he's 'open' to another addition to his frontline. The Chelsea boss said: "We are working hard to try to create this dynamic that will become natural and to share time together.

"I think the two help to know each other. It is good that they feel well, that they feel already part of the team and the group and they share a lot of time together.

"It is important because you need to start the Premier League in a good condition knowing each other and try to fight for each other to create a real team that is prepared to go and face opponents like Liverpool, Man City and different teams like this.

"Today I think we are happy with the performance and they can complement each other really well. Yes, of course, maybe we can add some different profiles or different players who can help us, of course we are open.

"I am so happy with both and we have younger players like Mason [Burstow] today and [Armando] Broja in the UK recovering from his procedure. We need to analyse now in the next weeks until the transfer window closes. We will take the best decision for the team."
