Chelsea goalkeeper Nathan Baxter has rejoined Hull on a second season-long loan, with the Championship side having an option to buy included as part of the deal.
Baxter made 18 appearances for Hull last term having made his debut against Wigan in the Carabao Cup in August 2021.
The 23-year-old made his first Sky Bet Championship appearance at the beginning of November, and three clean sheets in his first four starts saw him named Hull's player of the month.
Baxter remained ever-present until the end of January but injury sidelined him for over two months.
However he ended the season as Hull's number one under new manager Shota Arveladze as the side managed to avoid relegation.
The London-born goalkeeper originally joined Chelsea at seven years old before progressing through the ranks of the Premier League side's academy alongside the likes of Champions League winner and England international Mason Mount.
Baxter is no stranger to loan moves away from Stamford Bridge, having been first sent to join the Metropolitan Police side playing in the Ryman Premier Division before enjoying spells at Solihull Moors and Woking.
His impressive performances at Woking earned him a new two-and-a-half year contract at Chelsea before he was subsequently again sent to join Yeovil Town in League Two.
The Chelsea youth product made 38 appearances during his debut season in the English Football League but hadn't done enough to force his way into his parent club's first-team as he was again sent on loan. This time to Scotland's Ross County.
A shoulder injury saw Baxter struggle for game time north of the border, but Chelsea had seen enough quality in his performances to offer their shot-stopper another contract until 2023.
Baxter could finally have found his way out of Chelsea on a permanent basis with a buy option included in his latest loan move to Hull.
But should the world's most expensive goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga finally depart London this summer then the door could finally be open for Baxter to force his way into Thomas Tuchel's future plans.
