Chelsea handed positive Caicedo transfer update after second bid rejection

Chelsea transfer news: Moises Caicedo continues to be tracked by Chelsea in the summer transfer window, with two bids rejected for the midfielder so far.

football.london understands that Caicedo has been a top target for the Blues, having failed to land the youngster in the January market. The 21-year-old has impressed in his short time with the Seagulls, offering plenty both on the ball and off of it in the deeper midfield role.

It's not just that which he has in his portfolio, but there's versatility in his play too, able to play in various midfield positions as well as at full-back. The Ecuadorian international played a large part in Brighton securing European football for the coming season, but it seems unlikely he will feature in it for them.

Reports have claimed that Chelsea have already seen two bids turned down for Caicedo this summer, with the latest in the £70million region. There have been varying valuations on the young midfielder so far, with some claiming that just north of £70million could seal a move, while others state that a fee similar to that of Declan Rice to Arsenal (£105million) is required.

While that may be the case, there is a slight boost in the fact that both Chelsea and Brighton are on a tour to the USA in pre-season and will play one another. It could allow for a more seamless discussion over a deal as well as an easier transition for Caicedo when facilitating the move.

The move is ramping up from the player side too as CBS Sports journalist Ben Jacobs claims that the midfielder's representatives are pushing for a speedy resolution to the saga. The reporter claims that the two clubs are set for face-to-face talks soon, with his agents able to attend if necessary.

It could see the deal wrapped up quicker when the meeting is scheduled, with every side pushing towards getting a deal completed but on their terms.
