According to Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea have not held talks to sign AS Monaco centre-back Axel Disasi (25), despite reports to the contrary.
On Thursday, Le Parisien reported that Chelsea were amongst the clubs – including Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain – to be tracking Disasi. The Monaco centre-back has seemed to link his future to the Principality club’s hypothetical Champions League qualification for next season. Les Monégasques are currently fourth, three points behind Olympique de Marseille.
Questioned by Get French Football News’ Luke Entwistle on his future during Friday’s pre-match press conference, Disasi replied, “I want to qualify for the Champions League because we’re not there yet. I’m focused on the end of the season, and we’ll see after.”
On potentially playing in the Premier League, he added, “The Premier League? Everyone knows the quality, the passion, and the spectacle that there is in this championship. For all players that like football, this championship will speak to them.” However, speaking on the Here We Go podcast, Romano said that Disasi isn’t currently “a priority, not something that is advanced or concrete for Chelsea at this stage.”
