Chelsea 'in talks to extend £200million sponsorship deal with Yokohama'

Chelsea are in talks with Yokohama Tyres about extending their mega-money deal beyond the end of their current contract, according to reports.

The Blues signed a five-year shirt sponsorship deal worth £200million in 2015, then the second-biggest in the Premier League.

There is now under a year left on the deal, and the Sun report that Chelsea are discussing new terms with the Japanese giant as they look ahead to the future.One other option for Chelsea is to let the deal run down and test the market elsewhere, having seen Manchester United and Manchester City sign bumper deals worth a reported £64m and £45m a year respectively.

Chelsea went to Japan as part of their pre-season tour, losing 1-0 to Kawasaki Frontale in Frank Lampard's third game as the club's manager.

It is not expected that Chelsea will be able to draw in more money than the likes of City and United - despite the latter's absence from the Champions League - but they could secure a rise on their previous £40m-a-year deal.
