Chelsea loanee Zappacosta 'will return to London from Rome as his ACL torn'

There are unconfirmed reports this afternoon that Roma right-back Davide Zappacosta has damaged knee ligaments.

Zappacosta was only just returning from a calf injury, but the likes of Tuttomercatoweb and Il Tempo claims the worst is yet to come.

That is because the Chelsea loanee broke down in training on Friday, with Roma fearing he has torn his ACL.

The 27-year-old has managed only 12 minutes of football for the Giallorossi so far this season.

His season-long loan does not include an option to buy from Chelsea but does contain a break clause in January.

It may be the case that he is sent back to Stamford Bridge without starting a single match for the Lupi.
