Chelsea news as the owners continue to get plenty of business done across the board despite the transfer window closing and Mauricio Pochettino's early season struggles

Chelsea co-owners Clearlake Capital have announced that one of their investments, Discovery Education, has agreed a deal to acquire DreamBox Learning.

The business will see Discovery Education, a technological platform aimed to support learning, leave minority stakes with Dreambox's current investors Elliot Investment Management L.P and TPG's The Rise Fund. No financial terms for the deal have been disclosed.

It has so far not paid off either despite appointing former Tottenham and Paris Saint-Germain head coach Mauricio Pochettino as well as buying a set of some of the most talented young players on the planet. Chelsea have just one win from their opening four league games with two defeats.

It has seen pressure continue to grow on Boehly-Clearlake for their work in charge of the club.

What cannot be doubted is the success of their American-based firms. Clearlake have had massive growth in the past 15 years and continue to see their investments thrive. Upon the announcement of the most recent deal, Discovery Education Chief Executive Officer Jeremy Cowdrey said: "Discovery Education is excited to welcome DreamBox Learning, a brand synonymous with quality, research-based math and reading edtech solutions to our growing family of services.

“Combining an expertise in learning science with adaptive, effective instructional solutions, DreamBox Learning’s solutions can help students excel regardless of who they are or where they live. Through this latest acquisition, Discovery Education is better positioned to broaden its impact on student success by providing our existing network of partner school systems access to DreamBox Learning’s collection of supplemental math, reading, and professional learning solutions.”

Discovery Education have three other acquisitions, most recently that of Pivot Iteractives and DoodleLearning, both brough in 2022, and Mystery Science from 2020. The deal is expected to go through in the fourth quarter of 2023.
