Chelsea are pushing to sign Brighton's Head of Recruitment, Paul Winstanley, just weeks after the Blues raided the south-coast side for boss Graham Potter.

Winstanley knows Potter well from their time working together at Brighton and it now appears he is closing in on a switch to Chelsea.

Controlling co-owner Todd Boehly is determined to beef up Chelsea's recruitment team and former RB Leipzig chief Christopher Vivell, who left the German club last month, and Joe Shields, who is leaving Southampton, among those expected to join.

Monaco's technical director, Laurence Stewart, has agreed to make the move to Stamford Bridge, with Winstanley now seen as the next priority.

It is understood that Chelsea are keen to have a large recruitment team as they look to build a team capable of overthrowing champions Manchester City.

Boehly assumed position as interim sporting director in June when long-standing ally of former owner Roman Abramovich, Marina Granovskaia, departed.

Winstanley's reputation has been greatly enhanced in recent seasons after Brighton made a number of clever signings.

Yves Bissouma, now of Tottenham, Leandro Trossard and Moisés Caicedo have all been heralded as players that have been unlocked at Brighton.

More to follow.
