Sergio Aguero's performances over the past eight years with Manchester City have propelled him into the conversation of 'best Premier League forwards of all time'.

Since joining City from Atletico Madrid for £38million in 2011, Aguero has notched 244 goals in 353 games in all competitions, providing 71 assists for his team-mates in the process.

Prior to joining Roberto Mancini's side eight years ago, the Argentine was a man in demand owing to his bright performances in Madrid, with a host of English clubs said to be interested in the striker.

Unsurprisingly, Aguero was not far from the attention of Chelsea, with the deep pockets of Roman Abramovich providing an obvious link to Stamford Bridge.

However, according to The Athletic, Chelsea opted not to move for Aguero after club captain John Terry was left unimpressed by the hotshot.

The west London club had made a £30million bid for the striker, although that was said to be well under the asking price of Atletico, with Abramovich aggrieved by the £5million fee demanded by his agent Bruno Satin.

Terry's influence also had a huge impact on Aguero's failed move to Stamford Bridge, with the defender less than impressed with the Argentine's performances having faced Atletico twice during the Champions League campaign that season.

The former England captain is said to have been underwhelmed by Aguero's movement in particular, and advised Chelsea chiefs not to sign him that summer.

As such, Aguero took his services to Manchester, and the rest is history. The striker is still a huge part of Pep Guardiola's plans, having lead the Spaniard's side to back-to-back Premier League titles the past two seasons, taking his Premier League trophy haul tally to four.

Aguero has also won four League Cups and an FA Cup in his stint at the Etihad Stadium.
