Chelsea transfer news: The latest Blues media briefing with reaction to stories on Callum Hudson-Odoi and Gabriel Moscardo

Just when you thought Chelsea were done, they come from nowhere and continue to push for yet more players. Even with the expected arrival of Cole Palmer coming in late into the summer, there is room for Todd Boehly and Co to make another power-play.

Even on deadline day, it seems like the work is set to continue for the future with Fabrizio Romano reporting that another South American talent is on the way.

He writes: “Chelsea have presented formal bid to Corinthians for 2005 born top talent Gabriel Moscardo. Bid already discussed between clubs. Told Corinthians now want €25m to sell Moscardo and make it club record sale. It’d be a signing for the future.”

The deal would come it at £21million ($27m) for that price. The 17-year-old midfielder has just ten senior appearances to his name but has now well and truly broken into the first team. It appears that he could be set to join fellow Brazilian talent Andrey Santos in the Chelsea talent factory.

Romano later added: "17 yo midfielder would stay on loan at Corinthians until June. Corinthians currently asking for higher fee to make it happen."

football.london says: Another youngster, another day, what is the long-term thinking here? Even for BlueCo and the multi-club model it is hard to see the sustainability of farming up everyone for such prices. At £20million ($27m) there is some risk that he simply doesn't progress the way the club want him to and never truly brings in the fees desired.

It's a risk to keep doing these sorts of trades with only one source of controlled development centre out of Chelsea's first team as well. Academy performances appear to mean less and less in terms of ones progression into the senior side - just ask Cesare Casadei and Lewis Hall - while the RC Strasbourg experiment is still in its early days.

Moscardo is certainly a talented player and highly thought of within the club, their identification of these players is unquestioned, but the issues arise when it comes to actually pushing them into the squad. These problems will begin to show themselves more and more in the coming years and Moscardo is currently at the end of an already long list of names looking to do the same.

football.london says: For all the missed opportunties to create genuinely world-class players, Hudson-Odoi is one of the biggest regrets Chelsea can have. He was one of the best talents in the academy during a period of incredible success for the side. He lead the way in a group including Reece James, Mason Mount, Levi Colwill and Conor Gallagher.

The time for regretting this has already past but it'll be hard to watch Hudson-Odoi grow away from SW6 for sure.
