Chelsea set to announce former Manchester City executive Tom Glick as new director

Chelsea are set to appoint Tom Glick to their new-look hierarchy following the recent departures of three of the club’s most prominent executives.

Glick, who was previously Manchester City’s chief commercial and operating officer, is to take on a senior executive role at Stamford Bridge under American owners Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital.

The appointment comes after three of former owner Roman Abramovich’s closest aides: Marina Granovskaia, Bruce Buck and Petr Cech left the club.

The three former Chelsea chiefs all played integral roles in the day-to-day running of the west London club and their exits left a huge void in the club’s behind-the-scenes operation.

But Glick will now take on a lead role in the club’s new executive structure as Boehly and Clearlake make their mark on the club.

A fellow American, Glick has a long history in sports administration. He was chief commercial and operating officer at Man City, joining in 2012 from Derby where he had the same role.

After six years Glick stepped down from his Man City role in 2018 to take up a position as team president of NFL franchise Carolina Panthers. He has also had commercial roles in US basketball and baseball.
