Fresh from a startling summer with the Lionesses, Fran Kirby is fully focused on the season ahead with Chelsea after recently meeting with new owner Todd Boehly.
Kirby played her part in England's sensational trophy triumph at the women's European Championships and is now relishing the chance to lift further silverware with Chelsea this season.
Kirby is the club's all-time leading goalscorer after joining Chelsea at the age of 22 for a then British-record fee from childhood side Reading.
Now at the age of 29, she has seen the transformation in women's football and has been one of the leading figures in promoting the game as the recent euros boasted record attendances.
Joining fellow Chelsea star Mason Mount in a recent interview with The Times, Kirby highlighted how a recent meeting with Boehly stunned her as the American discussed plans for the women's team and even blasted the women's team facilities as not being good enough.
'We got invited to the game at Stamford Bridge the other day and sat with Todd and met people on the board, and they just seemed super, super positive about women's football and women's sport in general,' said Kirby.
'They came down to the facilities and said this is not acceptable for a club like Chelsea. We have always got on with it.
'We've had a moan here and there when we've had to come up here at 7am to use the pool — I'm not a morning person! — but we've got stuff done, won some trophies.'
The American owner hasn't remained a quiet observer since buying the club from Roman Abramovich, but instead dominated headlines with his splash-the-cash approach.
Boehly has so far invested millions in the men's playing side with Chelsea spending more in the transfer market than any other side, before sacking Thomas Tuchel just days later before appointing Graham Potter.
