Chelsea loaned Marc Guiu to newly-promoted Sunderland earlier this month but the Blues have quickly recalled the Spanish striker after £30million star Liam Delap suffered an injury
Chelsea have recalled Marc Guiu just 26 days after he joined Sunderland on loan. The Blues have successfully negotiated Guiu's return after their new signing, Liam Delap, suffered a hamstring injury which will keep him out for 'six to eight weeks'.
The Spanish striker was due to spend the season with Sunderland and scored his first goal for the Black Cats during Tuesday's loss to Huddersfield Town in the Carabao Cup. Guiu, 19, made a further two appearances in the Premier League, both as a late substitute.
But Sunderland boss Regis Le Bris will no longer be able to call upon the former Barcelona prospect, who signed for Chelsea in a £5m move last summer. Following Delap's injury, the Blues contacted newly-promoted Sunderland to discuss recalling Guiu.
There was no recall clause in the clubs' loan agreement, so the Blues had to negotiate his return to Stamford Bridge. Chelsea were successful in doing so and Guiu is heading back to London.
The 19-year-old's loan isn't the only deal which Chelsea have altered in light of Delap, who joined the Blues for £30million in July, sustaining an injury. Nicolas Jackson had been due to sign for Bayern Munich on loan and was already in Germany on Saturday when Chelsea beat Fulham 2-0.
The deal is now off, although Jackson's departure hasn't been ruled out, with Newcastle interested in a permanent switch. Bayern chief Max Eberl had suggested that the deal could be revived by telling German publication AZ: "Everyone will now revisit their network and contacts to a certain extent… then we'll see what's possible."
Just as Bayern are looking at alternative targets, Sunderland are set to bring in a new striker before Monday's 7pm deadline. A deal has been agreed for Ajax's Bryan Brobbey, who'll cost an initial £17.3m plus £4.3m in potential add-ons.
Should Chelsea sell Nicolas Jackson before the deadline? Have your say in the comments section.
The Black Cats are also in the market for a right-back and have agreed to sign Lutsharel Geertruida on a season-long loan from RB Leipzig. The deal includes an option to buy next summer when Sunderland hope to have secured their top-flight status.
Sunderland have enjoyed a successful start to life back in the Premier League following an eight-year absence. Le Bris' side have won two of their opening three games, leaving them sixth in the table during the international break.

Nico Jackson don't even reason where he'll be if after the loan spell at Bayern Munich, Bayern refuse to sign him permanent. Cuz I know Chelsea will not take you back into the team.
He think Bayern will buy him for 80m just to seat on bench lol

wow this is why most of we Africans are poor. imagine with all this amazing business Chelsea are doing this days you still see it as unnecessary or unsuccessful. selling fringe players will that surplus amount imagine Chelsea want to get Jackson out in an world request loan fees and option to buy him at 80m and you think they are not doing well. veiga was bought with 11m sold for 35m plus. chukuemaka for 30m,broja for 25m,ogochuku for 25m etc and you don't see a very fantastic bussiness here bro change your mentality and learn
