Norwich and Brighton have made enquiries to Chelsea about taking midfielder Danny Drinkwater on loan but his wages remains a major stumbling block, according to Evening Standard.
Drinkwater looked certain to stay at Stamford Bridge for another season last week because it was understood no concrete offers had been made.
But with the window coming to a close on Thursday, newly-promoted Norwich and Brighton have registered late interest.
However, both clubs will struggle to afford his salary of at least £100,000-a-week. It means Chelsea might have to consider still paying some of his wages to get him to go elsewhere.

Chelsea should keep him for squad depth. We need him especially now that they cannot sign anybody. Let him stay and make up the squad in case of emergency (suspension/ injuries). Nobody is totally useless. We saw what Origi did for Liverpool towards the end of the season. He was a rejected stone who turned to be the Chief corner Stone. His efforts and luck won them the champions league even when Salah,Mane and Ferminho couldn't do it in their first match against Barca. Please, instead of loan, let them keep him till the end of the season and sell by next season. Chelsea have epl,fa cup, Carling cup and champions league. Definitely,he would be good in one or two competitions.
