Chelsea will have to make Ben Chilwell the world's most expensive defender to prise the star from Leicester.
Stamford Bridge boss Frank Lampard is determined to add England left-back Chilwell to his squad for next term.
But Leicester have told Chelsea they value Chilwell, 23, even more highly than Harry Maguire.
England stopper Maguire, 27, became the world's most expensive defender last summer when he joined Manchester United for Β£80million from the Foxes.
Now Chelsea face having to top that fee to land Chilwell, who has 11 caps.
Leicester have sold a main asset each summer since winning the title following the exits of Maguire, Riyad Mahrez, Danny Drinkwater and N'Golo Kante.
Now Chilwell, who has been at Leicester since aged 12, is likely to be their next big sale.
The star is keen to quit for Chelsea where he sees his long-term future.
His decision is not just a reflection on fifth-placed Leicester missing out on Champions League qualification behind fourth-placed Chelsea.
Chilwell's intention to move is based upon where he sees himself playing for the next five-six years.
He also wants to nail down the England left-back spot going into next summer's rescheduled Euros.
Talks over his future are expected to step-up later this month ahead of the new Premier League season starting on September 12.
Lampard currently has Marcos Alonso and Emerson Palmieri at his disposal at left-back with Spaniard Alonso,29, getting the nod for the FA Cup final.

I prefer Tagliafico or Gosens. Chilwell is mediocre statistically and in games hes only really showed promise going forward and if that's the case we may as well get Telles who's better offensively but our woes are defensive not offensive. Tagliafico is well versed both offensively and defensively, Gosens too. I'm not a fan of Chilwell. I do believe hes got a cieling but what Chelsea lacks is good experienced players, not good younger players. I'd honestly rather we use Castillo and Maatsen as our left backs than sign Chilwell. Really dont see the appeal in him even though I think hes a decent fullback but hes not Chelsea standard and we have better young fullbacks in our own ranks Maatsen captained the U23 side to go unbeaten and Castillo when he has the chance has done bits for Ajax this season. Personally we need 1 experienced left back and then we use either Maatsen or Castillo as back up. Sell both Alonso and Emerson.

If Chelsea sign Chiwell then I'm off the club. Why wasting huge million on an overrated LB when it's so obvious we can get a cheaper option like Telles, Tagliafico, Gosens, Alaba!! Are we trying to act like we don't need to reenforce and solidify our shaky CB??? How about a new goalkeeper because Kepa must go. Havertz is about to join, sounds good but how do you feel when you think about our backline??? Willian want to go and it's obvious, if he finally walk away and Pedro is definitely going........we surely need a replacement because Odoi ain't yet ready for big big thing. I think Said Benrahma of Brentford is the perfect replacement for both of them, he can play anywhere upfront and with his attacking minded style......no doubt he's gonna thrive under Lampard.

stop buying players from Leicester...they overpriced players. I m still not happy with Maguire deal...I dnt say Maguire is bad but not worth that price.
