Mauricio Pochettino has two weeks on the training pitches at Cobham training ground to prepare Chelsea for their clash against Bournemouth following the international break
Chelsea will be desperate to win their first game back after the international break following a disappointing defeat to Nottingham Forest. Steve Cooper's side waltzed away from Stamford Bridge 1-0 victors thanks to a composed effort from Anthony Elanga just moment into the second-half.
While the Blues showed great promise during pre-season, Mauricio Pochettino has struggled to get points on the board this term with his new ideas. In the summer, the 51-year-old enjoyed great success with Mykhailo Mudryk on the left-wing but, ever since Christopher Nkunku picked up a knock, he's opted for Ben Chilwell instead.
Chelsea now have two-weeks on the training pitches at Cobham to prepare for their clash against Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium. And, as fans begin to ask questions, Pochettino is already under pressure to win games with the west Londoners already sitting in the bottom half of the Premier League table.
So, with that being said, football.london has taken a look at the Blues' upcoming fixtures in the calendar and how they compare to their rivals.
Bournemouth (A) - Sunday, September 17
Chelsea picked up a win in the same fixture last term – in fact, it was the only victory Frank Lampard picked up during his time as caretaker manager. Pochettino will be hoping to have the same fortune following the international break at the start of September.
Aston Villa (H) - Saturday, September 23
A big test awaits for Chelsea following the fixture against Bournemouth. Pochettino's side welcome Aston Villa to Stamford Bridge with Unai Emery's side predicted to challenge for a top four spot after brilliant results under Emery in the last nine months.
Fulham (A) - Monday, October 2
A west London derby under the lights at Craven Cottage. While Chelsea have lost just once against Fulham across all competitions since April 2006, the Blues could be in for a difficult night with Pochettino still finding his feet.
Burnley (A) - Saturday, October 7
A tough test against Vincent Kompany's side awaits Pochettino and the Blues after their west London derby clash against Fulham. Chelsea are unbeaten in their last nine fixtures against Burnley - dating back to 2018.
Arsenal (H) - Saturday, October 21
A fairly reasonable run of games after the international break comes to an end with the ultimate test against Arsenal. Chelsea will be expected to pick up points against the likes of Bournemouth, Villa, Fulham and and Burnley, so if the Blues fail to do so then this London derby could quickly become a must-win game – if it's not already...
