Cheltenham have become the first English Football League side to sack their manager this season after parting company with Gary Johnson.
The 62-year-old took over at Whaddon Road in 2015 and led the Robins back into the EFL in 2015-16 as National League winners.
A 1-1 draw at Macclesfield earned Cheltenham their first point of the season on Tuesday after three previous defeats, but it was not enough to save Johnson's job.
A club statement said: 'It is with great regret that the board of Cheltenham Town FC have this evening parted company with manager Gary Johnson.
'We would like to place on record our sincere thanks for the tireless work that Gary has done on behalf of the club, work that has left the club in a stronger position than when he took over.
'Assistant manager Russell Milton has been placed in temporary charge of team affairs for the foreseeable future.'

Either Johnson, the board or both decided to sell all the best players before the season kicked off. For the 1st match I think only 1 first team regular remained.... the keeper! It looked like a group of strangers trying to play with each other. Little wonder Johnson has gone be it his fault or be it a victim of circumstance. Either way, the writing was on the wall and probably best before we get too far.

Not surprised....previous Chairman left a ship that was already sinking, the Million for Eisa was clearly not reinvested, new Chairman does not seem to have a clue, as soon as appointed, withdrew his Company¿s sponsorship of Stand, says it all really....as already stated, they have sold, released most of last season¿s players, as in previous seasons, no doubt the accounts will manage to cloud over where all the funds have gone from the sale of players...diminishing crowds, a one way route to Non League, total shambles.... Thank you Gary J for all your hard work, must be very frustrating that after you and Bruv brought in a promising player like Eisa, that you do not get at least some of the funds to reinvest.... This mess is all down to the new Chairman and a load of puppets on the Board.
