The Community Shield will not be played at Wembley in 2021 due to a clash with the Women's European Championship.

The FA is in discussions about moving the traditional curtain raiser outside of London but it will stay in England.

That summer, England's women's side will take part in the 16-team European tournament.

It will be held in England and runs from July 7 to August 1, with Wembley hosting the final.

It is understood the Community Shield will not be moved outside England, with some countries having opted to play their equivalent match overseas.

The match, known as the Charity Shield until 2002, has traditionally been played at the home of English football since 1974.

It is played between the winners of the Premier League and the FA Cup.

It moved to the Millennium Staidum in Cardiff when the current Wembley was being built between 2001 and 2006.

The opening fixture was also moved in 2012, when the showpiece took place at Villa Park due to the Olympic Games.

The current holders are Manchester City, who beat runaway league leaders Liverpool on penalties.
