Chelsea have had a busy transfer window and are now trying to sign Anthony Gordon from Everton – but will he improve Thomas Tuchel's squad? We've had a look at his stats to find out.
Gordon, who came through Everton's academy, made his Premier League debut in January 2020 and spent the second half of 2020-21 on loan at Preston North End.
The 21-year-old then enjoyed a breakthrough campaign in 2021-22, cementing his place in the first team and winning the Everton Men's Players' Player of the Year award.
“I've been really impressed,” Frank Lampard told Sky Sports in May when asked about how Gordon has risen to the challenge. “He's becoming more of a man, more of a leader with every game, with every day. His dedication and talent is huge.
“His feeling for the club, to bring that across at such a young age is something pretty special. I love working with him, love him as a player.
“There are things he wants to improve and he can improve and that's absolutely normal in terms of development. But what he's doing for us at the minute, he's an absolutely huge player.”
Chelsea, who have already spent over £150million on new signings this summer, made a £45nillion for Gordon but it was rejected by Everton.
According to The Daily Telegraph, the winger wants to join Chelsea this summer and they are expected to make another bid for him. But how does he compare to the options currently at Tuchel's disposal?
We've taken a look at how Gordon's stats in the Premier League last season stack up against the corresponding output of Raheem Sterling, Kai Havertz, Hakim Ziyech, Christian Pulisic and Callum Hudson-Odoi.
Note: we've also included Timo Werner's stats for context as they play similar roles.

I am surprised that there's a visitor around who can see the quality in an underrated player like Gordon who plays for a mid-table club

They don't watch Everton play week in week out. They just see some stats and pretend they know about the player

Gordon is a very good guy. that's guy is fast, can dribble and his movements are dangerous inside the opposition halves. those u are criticizing Chelsea for trying to get Gordon do not watch ball week in week out.

Irrespective of the stats posted, if the Coach want him I believe he saw something we didn't see in him. Let the club get him for the coach. Rudi was dropped to third choice under Lampard but the arrival of Tuchel change his story for good. Give the Coach the player he want.
