Cristiano Ronaldo described his return to Manchester United as 'a disaster' in sensational new claims from a book amid increasing speculation over his future at Old Trafford.
The Portuguese superstar returned to Old Trafford last summer after originally leaving the Red Devils back in 2009 for an £80million move to Spanish giants Real Madrid.
Ronaldo's return, however, has not been plain sailing and a new book being released next month has stated the forward's frustration on his return.
The book, Messi vs Ronaldo: One Rivalry, Two GOATs, and the Era That Remade the World’s Game, which goes into detail on his illustrious career has revealed all, according to The Sun.
It revels that Ronaldo was unhappy with interim head coach Ralf Rangnick, confessing 'This is a disaster' to an executive at a FIFA event.
That is just one of the things that have made life hard for Ronaldo since returning, as he was angry at the lack of investment into the Carrington training ground, while very annoyed that the club has not evolved since his departure over a decade ago.
Above all else, he also appeared very shocked at the players level of commitment to remain in top level condition.
Ronaldo was United's top goalscorer at the club last season, notching 24 goals in all competitions across 39 matches, despite still appearing a frustrated figure.
Things have more sour this season as Ronaldo and new boss Erik ten Hag seem to clash, meaning the forward has been restricted to limited playing time, featuring 13 times in all competitions, predominantly from the bench.
He was even banished from the first-team squad after refusing to come off the bench in United's 2-0 victory over Tottenham earlier this month - forcing him to train with the under-21s and miss the Chelsea clash.
The former Juventus star was recalled for their 3-0 Europa League victory over Sheriff on Thursday evening, where he found the back of the net.
His return to the fold will not change his desire to leave Old Trafford in January after only starting twice in the Premier League this campaign after trying to leave back in the summer.
Regardless of what Ronaldo wants come January, for now he needs to be playing, especially with the 2022 World Cup coming up.
Ten Hag, however, was reluctant to say if the former Real Madrid and Juventus star had played his way into the line-up to face West Ham in the continued absence of Anthony Martial after Thursday night.
But the Dutchman backed Ronaldo to have another high-scoring season if he stays at United beyond January and takes the opportunities the team are creating for him.
Asked if Ronaldo can reach the heights of last season, Ten Hag said: 'It's up to him. But I think when you collect all the chances he creates, the team creates for him in the last weeks, you see he's still capable to get in the right positions and he's still capable of finishing them. I think it's possible, yeah.'
