Defeat to Manchester City was hard to take for Liverpool on Sunday, but the criticism from prominent media figures and pundits rubbed salt into the wounds.
Among those leading the harsh words was Roy Keane.
"We spoke before the game - they are making a lot of excuses," Keane said, speaking as a pundit on Sky Sports.
"For me, they are bad champions.
"You could say that this is a one-off, it's a freak season, it's corona, just get on with it, you're the champions, you're Liverpool Football Club.
"Keeping performing like that and it will be another 30 years before you win the title."
The former Manchester United captain didn't hold back.
"I think Jurgen Klopp said maybe the goalkeeper's feet were cold, that's a new one, I know it was tongue-in-cheek a little bit but it's excuses after excuses, it just goes on and on," he ranted.
"You want a reaction from Liverpool's performance against Brighton.
"You go to United in the FA Cup, they shipped seven earlier in the season to Villa, with Van Dijk."
Liverpool are currently ten points behind leaders Manchester City with an additional game played.

klopp team selection is so frustrating how could he played both fabinho n Henderson at centre halves when he have davies and kabak..n when salah isn't really performing how could he even play milner n shaqiri ...klopp is really crazy when it comes to team selection and if he still play Henderson, milner and shaqiri the remaining matches i think Liverpool wouldn't even qualify for the champions league ... they should sell Henderson, shaqiri, origi & milner and they should bring in dayot upamecano or kaulibaily and Trent needs to level his game , he's loosing a lot of balls in his areas and many of the goals they conceded are from his area...sell salah next season n bring in mbappe or leroy sane...consider this tean selection without virgil n gomez this season and the latter one is the team to beat next season
