Crystal Palace's stars made club history on Wednesday night, but for one of their players he wrote himself into European football folklore too.

Palace are Conference League champions after beating Spanish outfit Rayo Vallecano 1-0 in Leipzig, courtesy of Jean-Philippe Mateta's goal in the 50th minute.

Evann Guessand came on in the 80th minute for the Eagles and helped see out the threat of their LaLiga opponents.

And in being part of their victorious squad, the 24-year-old became the first footballer to win two European competitions with two different teams in the same season.

The 24-year-old joined Palace on loan from Aston Villa in January - with his parent club winning the Europa League final the week before.

And with UEFA awarding 50 gold medals to winning teams in each competition, it means there is the possibility of Guessand being able to collect both.

While at Villa, the Ivory Coast international played seven times in the Europa League, scoring twice.

Since joining Palace, he has featured six times in the Conference League - scoring once.

Guessand's loan at Palace could be turned into a permanent one with the Selhurst Park outfit having the option to do so.
