Cesc Fabregas took to Twitter to make a joke at former teammate Danny Drinkwater's expense after the Chelsea midfielder was charged with drink driving.
The 29-year-old was arrested after crashing his Range Rover in the early hours of Monday morning, requiring treatment for minor injuries, and was released on bail.
Although Chelsea released a statement refusing to comment until all the facts were established, Fabregas was rather more willing to get involved, making a jibe at his old midfield rival on social media.
Replying to a story about Drinkwater's arrest, Fabregas tweeted a simple two-word put down: 'Danny Drinkwhat?'
The comment was quickly picked up on by fans who mocked the former Leicester man for his brush with the law.
Drinkwater, who is due to appear at Stockport Magistrates' Court on 13 May, spent 18 months playing alongside Fabregas at Stamford Bridge.
However, he has not played a single minute of Premier League action under Maurizio Sarri this season and is considered surplus to requirements.
He last turned out for the Blues in the Community Shield against Manchester City back in August.
In fact, Drinkwater has only made the matchday squad in two games since then across all competitions – at home to Cardiff in September and against Derby in the EFL Cup.
Fabregas struggled for game time similarly under Sarri, though left Stamford Bridge for Monaco in the January window.

Poor Drinkwater who should be constantly drinking water. Instead his butt got arrested for drinking something else. Next time he'll drink water.
