David Beckham has held talks with former Real Madrid team-mate Zinedine Zidane about the possibility of him taking over the reins of his new MLS franchise Inter Miami.
The former France midfielder has been without a job since resigning from his position as Real Madrid boss after guiding Los Blancos to a third consecutive Champions League crown in May.
Zidane is among the favourites to replace Jose Mourinho if the Portuguese manager is sacked by Manchester United but, according to The Mirror, Beckham has now opened negotiations for him to come to Florida.
Zidane reportedly told friends last month that he expects to be offered the Old Trafford gig should Mourinho be removed and even began compiling a list of transfer targets in case he was offered the job.
It is believed Zidane would prefer to remain in Europe but Beckham looks keen on hiring a high-profile manager to take control of the league's latest addition.
Zidane's reputation would also help bring a number of high-profile recruits to the squad, it is hoped. It is thought the club are aiming to do a deal with Lionel Messi as they look to tap into the Latin American population in the Florida city.
The former Manchester United midfielder's franchise are expected to play their football at Miami Freedom Park.
The stadium will be part of 110 acres of permanent green space. There will also be pitches over 23 acres for young players to play on – and they will be open to the public.
In a bold move, they have also said that there would not be any public money used in funding the stadium build.
Benefits to the area include up to $40million (£30m) of annual tax revenue, $20m (£15m) to the city and 11,000 jobs created over three years.
The construction of the stadium will be included on a referendum in the upcoming ballot in south Florida in November.

From managing the best club in the world and winning multiple trophies, including 3 UCLs, to a country where football is not even called football? I don't think so.
