Chelsea striker David Datro Fofana is closing on his loan move to Union Berlin.

The forward joined the club from Molde for £11million in January but has found opportunities limited, even when the club was struggling to score goals last season.

He's made just four appearances for the club and is yet to find the back of the net, and will be down the pecking order with the likes of Nicolas Jackson arriving at the club.

The return of Armando Broja from injury would also likely have limited his game time at Stamford Bridge.

At 20, however, time is on his side and he will be sent on loan to Germany for the season to be given the chance to improve with first team football having supposedly undergone a medical.

Datro Fofana singed a six-year deal at Chelsea when he arrived as one of several signings made by new owner Todd Boehly in his first year in charge.

The Blues have pressed the reset button under Mauricio Pochettino, however, after a torrid season last term, and are determined to clear out they squad after carrying too many numbers in the 2022/23 season.

The likes of N'Golo Kante, Edouard Mendy and Mason Mount have all left the club permanently, while more expected to depart before the transfer window closes.

PAOK FC, meanwhile, have signed Chelsea left-back Baba Rahman, 29, on a three-year contract.

The defender last played for Chelsea in 2016 but has been at the club for eight years after signing for £21.7million in 2015.

He was shipped on loan to the likes of Shalke and Reims during that time, and spend the last two seasons with Reading in the Championship.

In total, the Ghana international made 23 appearances for Chelsea during his seven-year stay at the club.
