David Moyes has come to the defence of Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag, and believes that he can improve the team's performance as long as he continues to receive support from the club's board.

Ten Hag's Manchester United has faced difficulties in the opening ten Premier League games, with several key injuries contributing to the team's challenges.

Moyes, who previously managed Manchester United, acknowledged that Ten Hag has displayed positive qualities and stated that support from the board is crucial.

The Hammers boss agreed with Wayne Rooney's observation that the pressure and criticism tend to be directed at managers rather than players, emphasising that it is a common aspect of the managerial role.

'It's always been directed at managers. That's why most of the time you talk about managers losing their jobs, not players losing their jobs. It's part of the job.

'Ultimately if you manage Manchester United, it's a pressure job and you're expected to win with a really good style.' Moyes said.

'It wouldn't need me to tell anybody that. But it sounds like he's getting great support from their board and if you've got that you've got a great chance of improving results, which gives you more time. Let's see what happens.'

'Erik ten Hag has done a lot of really good things.'

In their upcoming match against Fulham, if Ten Hag's Manchester United faces another setback, West Ham could potentially overtake them in the league standings with a victory against Brentford.

However, Moyes will have to navigate the game without the services of midfielders Edson Alvarez and Lucas Paqueta, both of whom are serving one-game suspensions.

Additionally, the availability of captain Kurt Zouma, who recently sustained a knee injury, remains uncertain.

Zouma has participated in training over the past two days, and Moyes is awaiting further assessment to determine his fitness for the upcoming match.
