David Ornstein: City & Ruben Dias reach an agreement in principle over new deal

David Ornstein has reported for The Athletic that Manchester City and Ruben Dias have reached an agreement in principle over a new deal for the Portuguese international. Furthermore, Ornstein reports that Dias' current contract is set to expire at the end of the 26/27 season.

With the departures of Kyle Walker and Kevin De Bruyne from Manchester City being officially confirmed this summer a new batch of leaders will emerge in Pep Guardiola’s squad. This season Bernardo Silva, Ruben Dias, Rodri and Erling Haaland have been named in City’s captaincy group for next season. In the case of Ruben Dias, he figures to be a prominent player for next season and beyond for Manchester City. His leadership and defensive acumen will be crucial to City’s chances next season.

On the eve of a new season, it has been revealed that Ruben Dias has reached an agreement over a contract extension with Manchester City. That is massive news for City as they have now tied down their defensive leader for the beginning of a new era at the club.
