David Villa's first appearance at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu came for a light blue team, although on that day in 2005 Celta Vigo wore red in a 3-2 win over Real Madrid.
It was September 10, 2005, and a 19-year-old Silva, on loan from Valencia, came on with four minutes left to play.
Almost 15 years have passed and David Silva is about to play at the Bernabeu for the last time, again for a club who wear light blue as their home strip.
When he was just 12, he and his father arrived at Real Madrid's old training facilities for a trial.
His plan was never to stay, he just wanted to see how things worked in the capital and that was explained to Vicente del Bosque.
That was the very beginning of a love that never materialised, and Silva never went on to play for Real Madrid.
On Wednesday Silva will play his last game at a stadium where the Champions League gives reason to live, and it's the only competition his trophy cabinet is missing.
In 2015/16 the Canary Islander arrived at the Bernabeu with arguably his best chance of winning the competition, but Gareth Bale settled the tie and Real Madrid progressed.
Since then, Silva, Manchester City and Pep Guardiola have been trying all they can to win the Champions League, and he wants it even more this year with it being his last chance.
Silva has won twice at the Bernabeu - on that aforementioned occasion with Celta and also with Valencia on March 23, 2008.
Now he'll return hoping to get a third win. With the Premier League out of reach, City are putting all of their eggs in the Champions League basket.
