According to Football.London, De Zerbi confirmed that Mudryk is injured and will be sidelined for 4 to 8 weeks, while Maddison is available for selection.
Mudryk's ankle sprain is expected to keep him out for 4 to 8 weeks. During a media interview on Friday, De Zerbi also confirmed that Kulusevski suffered a minor setback during his recovery from a complex knee injury and is not yet training with the full squad.
De Zerbi said: "Kulusevski hasn't trained with us for the past week. It's not a major issue, just a normal situation after a long absence. The same applies to Mudryk. It was a frustrating injury. We need him back as soon as possible because he has suffered a lot and is very important to us. After a long absence, this is simply how recovery goes."
When Football.London asked what made Mudryk's injury "frustrating," De Zerbi explained: "There was no challenge, no special movement—he just felt pain in his ankle. He had an examination two days later, and that's when we identified the specific problem. After such a long absence, this was also a foreseeable situation. When we signed Mudryk, we knew it might be difficult for him to regain his normal form."
However, Maddison is available. De Zerbi confirmed: "Maddison is back, yes." The midfielder returned to training last Thursday and, after missing the match against Nottingham Forest, is now expected to be in the squad.
In addition, Xavi Simons and Odobert are still recovering from anterior cruciate ligament injuries sustained last season. Simons is expected to return in spring 2027, while Odobert is expected to return by the end of this year.
