Declan Rice completed a £105million move to Arsenal in the summer transfer window whilst Chelsea were able to tie Levi Colwill down to a new long-term contract after snubbing interest from Liverpool and Brighton
Arsenal star Declan Rice has been seriously impressed with Chelsea defender Levi Colwill on international duty. The two Premier League rivals are currently away with England, drawing 1-1 against Ukraine over the weekend with a friendly against rivals Scotland on Tuesday evening up next.
Rice was left leading an inquest into how his Arsenal teammate, Oleksandr Zinchenko, was allowed to run into space inside the Three Lions' penalty area to open the scoring against England on Saturday afternoon. Manchester City defender Kyle Walker equalised before half-time with Gareth Southgate's team still top of their European Championships 2024 qualifying group.
Colwill was an unused substitute during the match with Harry Maguire and Marc Guehi preferred ahead of the Chelsea talent. Colwill impressed during a loan spell with Brighton last term and rejected approaches from Liverpool and the Seagulls to extend his stay at Stamford Bridge after signing a bumper new contract.
After signing his new deal, the 20-year-old said: "It’s always been an easy decision. As I’ve grown up, all I’ve known is Chelsea.
"I’ve spoken with the manager and he’s given me reassurance, that trust I needed. He’s spoken with me not just as a player but a person. It’s made a big difference."
Rice was released by the Blues at a young age and now finds himself lining up for London rivals Arsenal after completing a £105million move to the Emirates Stadium from West Ham this summer. Rice has been discussing all his international teammates during an interview on England’s TikTok account - but he offered an interesting answer when asked to describe Colwill in one word.
"Composed," Rice said to describe the Chelsea defender. The 20-year-old has proved he is one of most talented centre-backs in the Premier League in the last 12 months and he is already a mainstay in Mauricio Pochettino's side.

Just for the real record, Rice didn't snub Liverpool. We don't buy overpriced players. Fact.
