Demetri Mitchell was given a group lift and chucked into the air after wowing Manchester United team-mates during his singing initiation.

The 20-year-old starlet was the latest forced to sing in front of the squad as a way of getting to know the rest of the players.

Angel Gomes and Tahith Chong have had to do it during the tour already, but Mitchell stole the show as he was filmed clambering onto a chair and singing into a water bottle.

Mitchell sang 'Hold On, We're Going Home' by Drake, and his impressive performance was videoed by Gomes, Diogo Dalot and Eric Bailly.

Coach Michael Carrick could be seen grinning in the front row while Juan Mata was shown swinging a white napkin over his head in appreciation.

After finishing with a flourish, United's players cheered and then rushed to greet Mitchell.

He was immediately lifted up and propelled into the air by stars including Nemanja Matic and Ander Herrera.

Mitchell appears to be inching towards a first-team squad place at United, over 12 months after making his debut in a red shirt.

He played in the final game of the 2016-17 season but failed to make a single appearance last year, and was loaned out to Hearts where he scored once in 11 games.

He has featured in both of United's two pre-season fixtures to date, starting in the 1-1 draw with Club America and making a substitute appearance in the subsequent stalemate with San Jose Earthquakes.
