The FA has charged Derby County midfielder Bradley Johnson with violent conduct for an alleged bite on Joe Allen, even though the Stoke City midfielder played down the incident.
The pair clashed after Stoke's Oghenekaro Etebo was sent off in his side's 2-1 victory on Wednesday, with TV replays suggesting Johnson sank his teeth into Allen's shoulder.
Allen said Johnson had merely bitten his shirt but the FA said that after reviewing footage of the incident, the Derby player would face a trial by an Independent Regulatory Commission.

'Derby County's Bradley Johnson has been charged with violent conduct,' the FA said in a statement.
'It follows an incident with Stoke City's Joe Allen during Wednesday's game which was not seen by the match officials but caught on camera.
'It is alleged that the standard punishment of three matches that would otherwise apply is clearly insufficient.'
Johnson faces a minimum four-game ban if found guilty. He has until 6pm on Friday to respond to the charge.
Stoke manager Gary Rowett, who managed Johnson at Derby last season, tried to play down the incident down.
'We are not going to make any complaints,' said Rowett. 'I spoke to Joe and he said it wasn't anything massively problematic. It was part of the melee, a moment in the game that probably looked worse than it was.'
Allen backed up his manager's comments by claiming he was not bitten by Johnson, and said: 'People asked me at half-time what had happened and suggested I'd been bitten, but to clear it all up, that didn't happen. He might have caught a bit of my shirt but I think we can lay that one to rest.'
