Desperate Manchester United fans demand £115m splurge on Frenkie De Jong and Aurelien Tchouameni

Manchester United fans have taken to social media to voice their opinion over who Erik ten Hag should sign during the summer transfer window.

The Old Trafford hierarchy will reportedly hand the incoming manager a £100-£150million budget to acquire three new players.

As a result, the Manchester United faithful have identified Frenkie de Jong and Aurelien Tchouameni as two potential players they would like Ten Hag to approach.

De Jong - who joined Barcelona from Ajax in 2019 - has been heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford following the news of Ten Hag's appointment.

De Jong played under the Dutch manager during his time at Ajax. Ten Hag developed the midfielder and helped him attract interest from Barcelona.

Ten Hag said he was responsible for 'finding a way to make De Jong function in the best possible way'.

The Dutch boss said: 'The quality of your players decide how you will play, and with what system. We had to find a way to make Frenkie function in the best possible way.

'You saw his incredible talent, but where do we have to use him to get the best out of him and his talent? Eventually I decided to play with two 'number 6' players on the pitch.

'Once I did this you saw how much better he became on the pitch, and how much better he made the whole team play and especially the attackers.'

However, De Jong's father has previously hinted that the midfielder may not join Manchester United this summer.

He told Dutch publication Algemeen Dagblad: 'It's often bad weather there. Of course it's about football, but it does matter.

'Of course I know that Barcelona needs money and a great offer for Frenkie could help, but I don't see it happening anytime soon. Although, the five top European clubs have all called.'

Nevertheless, Manchester United fans are eager to see their new manager, Ten Hag, acquire the Dutch international's services.

They have take to social media to say: 'I’d absolutely love Frenkie de Jong at Manchester United. He’s perfect for Ten Hag’s system, ranks very highly in progressive actions.'

Fans have also registered an interest in Tchouameni - who has been linked with a move away from Ligue 1 club AS Monaco.

Real Madrid, Manchester United and Chelsea are all said to be keeping tabs on his current situation in France.

Reports state that Monaco are open to negotiations over a summer deal for Tchouameni but insist they want between £50million and £60m for their prized asset.

Nevertheless, fans have taken to social media to say: 'The first midfielder, and probably the first signing, we have to make is Tchouameni. No one else even comes close to his importance.'

Another added: 'United could potentially be able to buy FdJ and Tchouameni for nearly £115m, which leaves little (pre-sales) to their max budget but you could instantly transform the club with those two alone. Absolutely must try.'

While another wrote: 'Manchester United do everything possible to sign tchouameni.'
