'Disgrace to football' - Marcos Rojo slammed for tackle on Willian

Many believe Marcos Rojo can count himself a lucky boy after escaping a red card for a foul on Willian in Manchester United's match against Chelsea.

The United defender lunged in and caught Willian's ankle with his studs, forcing the Chelsea man off the pitch a few minutes later as he couldn't continue.

Social media erupted in anger over the incident, with many saying that he should've received a much harsher punishment than the yellow card he got.

One Twitter user called Marcos Rojo a 'disgrace to football,' while others were also lambasting referee Martin Atkinson for his lenient decision.

'How is Rojo not sent off? Atkinson is a disgrace!' Said another Twitter user, while one more said that not only Rojo should've been sent off, but Nemanja Matic as well for a separate incident.

Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri was clearly disturbed by the tackle, but tried not to get in trouble with the authorities when he was asked about the incident after the game.

'I don't know, the yellow card is... an orange card,' said Sarri diplomatically.

The match ended in a 1-1 draw, meaning there's no change in the respective teams' race for the top four. Time is running out for Manchester United now though, who are three points adrift of Chelsea with just two games to go.

A loss from Arsenal to Leicester earlier on Sunday gave them a boost, but they will still need both Arsenal and Chelsea to slip up again in their remaining games.
