Divock Origi 'agrees personal terms with AC Milan' as Liverpool cult hero closes in on a departure

Divock Origi is set to leave Liverpool on a free transfer after agreeing personal terms with AC Milan, according to reports.

The Belgian striker is a cult hero at Anfield after scoring several iconic goals, but his contract expires this summer and he has not played enough games this season to trigger a contract extension.

And as stated by the Athletic, it looks increasingly probable his next destination will be the San Siro - despite no contract being signed and no medical taking place.

The 27-year-old star moved to the Reds from Lille for £10million and was immediately loaned back to the French side for a season.

After two seasons with modest returns at Liverpool, he was sent on loan to German outfit Wolfsburg in 2017-18 and has largely played a bit-part role with Jurgen Klopp's side since then, with only two league starts in the last two campaigns.

But amongst his 41 goals in 175 appearances in all competitions, there have been some outstanding and crucial strikes.

Most notably, the 32-cap international scored twice in the club's famous Champions League comeback against Barcelona, a stoppage-time winner against Everton in the Merseyside derby and the second in their 2-0 Champions League final victory.

Those goals have made him a hugely popular figure among fans, although most would begrudge him the chance for first-team football.

Stefano Pioli's AC Milan, who currently have veterans Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Olivier Giroud as their main strikers, can confirm the Serie A title from bitter rivals Inter Milan on the final day if they beat Sassuolo on Sunday.
