A Premier League table without VAR has revealed who has been hampered most by the technology this season.
England's top division is in its fifth season of using VAR, and, though it is still yet to be perfected, its impact on events every week continues to provide talking points and controversy.
Chief Refereeing Officer for PGMOL, former Premier League referee Howard Webb, regularly appears on tv to discuss some of the key decisions of recent times, including some that officials are adjudged to have got wrong during the game.
When it goes wrong, VAR can cost sides goals and therefore results, such as during Liverpool's 2-1 defeat to Tottenham earlier on this season when Luis Diaz's strike was incorrectly ruled out after a VAR check.
Now, Manchester World have put together an alternative Premier League table, formed to explain how the table would look if VAR wasn't in use in the division.
It's Newcastle who rank as being the most harshly-treated side in the division this season, and it's suggested that Eddie Howe's outfit would be three points - and one place - better off in the table if VAR wasn't around.
They would sit seventh in the league, one place behind Manchester United, who would have an extra point to their names, and two behind Tottenham, who would be two points worse off - a ranking hugely impacted by their win over Liverpool.
Aston Villa would remain in the final Champions League spot but be two points closer to Arsenal, who would drop a place to third.
The title race, however, would be a lot closer. City, currently second, are one point off of Liverpool, who top the table but would be a point worse off, meaning just goal difference would separate the two rivals.
Elsewhere, the table has shown that Chelsea have benefitted the most from VAR this season and would be a huge five points worse off if it didn't exist.
In the relegation battle, Sheffield United would remain bottom with one less point, while Burnley would remain 19th despite picking up two extra points.
Everton, who have received a 10-point deduction, would be on the same points and occupy the final relegation place, with Luton one point better off in 17th.

Title race closer? How we got robbed in broad daylight a few times especially with a certain basketball player from Arsenal and the spurs game
what do they mean the title race would be closer, when liverpool should have like 6 more points and man city should have like 6 less

Newcastle got 3 points from that game against Arsenal when the ball was out of play so i still don't understand why they would be 3 points better off VAR robbed every team in my opinion

I am confused...how would Liverpool not be in a better position had VAR done their job fairly?
Diaz goal is given offside by the idiotic linesman and VAR concurs

i think its because without VAR, Liverpool is still given offside for Diaz goal regardless. thus, VAR doesnt affect the Spurs game at all.
