Premier League's Huddersfield become first side to be relegated in Europe's top five leagues following 2-0 loss to Crystal Palace
Huddersfield have been relegated from the Premier League this weekend after losing to Crystal Palace and other results going against them.
Jan Siewert's doomed side suffered a 2-0 defeat at Selhurst Park but would have been spared for another weekend had both Burnley, who beat Wolves, and Southampton, who beat Brighton, both taking three points.
The Terriers have become only the second team in the Premier League era to be relegated before the end of March, surviving just one day longer than Derby in 2007-08 and equalling their unwanted record of relegation after 32 games.
Goals from Luka Milivojevic and Patrick van Aanholt confirmed their fate but this is a relegation that has been coming for weeks.
Siewert was close to tears after Huddersield's 4-3 collapse at West Ham before the international break.
Huddersfield led 3-1 but capitulated in the last 15 minutes as West Ham took advantage of slack defending and low confidence.
It left them on 14 points from 31 games and having lost to Palace, they have too much to make up with six games left. They have lost 24 games this season and have scored the fewest number of goals with 18.

Does anyone remember Derby County from the season 2007/08 i believe it was? They only won 1 game and had 11 points the whole season. π
