Toni Kroos was jeered with every touch of the ball as Real Madrid booked their place in the final of Spanish Super Cup.
The German midfielder entered the fray in the 67th minute of their thrilling 5-3 victory over Atletico Madrid, in a match which was held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Kroos was targeted by fans whenever he got on the ball, while supporters also cheered when he slipped making a pass.
It comes after his damning comments on players who have moved to the Saudi Pro League, claiming their decision to move to the Middle East nation was 'against football'.
Kroos appeared to take the heat from fans on his stride however, as he tweeted after the game: 'That was fun today! Amazing crowd' with a love heart eyes emoji.
Kroos has previously made a number of comments about players joining the Saudi Pro League.
He famously labelled Gabri Veiga's decision to join Al-Ahli 'embarrassing' after the former Celta Vigo midfielder, 21, had previously been linked with the likes of Liverpool, Manchester United and Napoli.
The German also told Sports Illustrated: 'It's been said that they play ambitious football there, but it's all about the money. In the end, it's a decision for the money and against football.
'That's when it starts to become difficult for the football we all know and love.
'Everyone has to make that decision for themselves, like Cristiano Ronaldo, who decided to do it towards the end of his career.
'But it becomes very difficult when players, who are in the middle of their career and have the quality to play for the best clubs in Europe, decide to make those changes'.
Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti said that he 'didn't understand' the whistles from fans at the Al-Awwal Stadium towards the midfielder.
Despite the reception his teammate received, Dani Carvajal praised the supporters and the atmosphere at the Al-Awwal Stadium
'The truth is that the fans have been excellent,' the defender said. 'It has been a spectacular atmosphere. A more soccer atmosphere'
On his side's comeback, Ancelotti added: 'This is Real Madrid's DNA. It's a good apprenticeship for the youngsters, for Bellingham, for Arda. The team never gives up. You can lose, but never give up'
The Supercopa de Espana has been held in Saudi Arabia in four of the past five seasons, with only the Covid-19 pandemic forcing it to be held in Spain during the 2020-21 campaign.
Real Madrid will face the winners of Thursday's semi-final between Barcelona and Osasuna on Sunday - where Kroos is likely to receive more jeers if he features.

M a Madrid fan but does not support Kroos' statement. He was wrong to say all that about the league. In as much as he wants the European leagues to progress, Saudis also want the same and that can be achieved by buying great players. I think he cause the booing.

On this topic. I will proudly say Kroos was wrong for his statement. Saudi are trying to build a competitive league therefore, they are trying to sign players to make their league more competitive. If Kroos has negative mindset about players moving to Saudi then, he had probably against a player such as Benzema, Christiano, Neymar, Sadio Mane, Kante and so on. Meanwhile, USA started this idea before Saudi also joined. I don't see anything wrong when you see a player moving away from Europe to other nations. If their moving intentions were based on money, is there any players on earth playing for his current Club for free? Kroos is very intelligent and i know he would probably do the needful by apologizing to the Saudi Arabia fan
