Edinson Cavani is looking to lead by example for his young Manchester United team-mates as the veteran striker looks to make his mark at Old Trafford.
The former Paris Saint-Germain striker sealed a dramatic deadline day switch to the Premier League club on a free transfer, bolstering Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's attacking options for the season.
The 33-year-old will add experience to a youthful front line, with Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford and Mason Greenwood forming a front three since the start of the 2020-21 campaign.
And Cavani gave a simple message to his new team-mates, whom are looking to ascend to the top of the game.
'I don't think that there's any better advice than simply working hard on a football pitch or in a training session,' he told the club's website.
'Because you don't win any game by just turning up and walking out on the field. You start to win the game during the training sessions, you start to win the game by how you prepare for it.'
Cavani added that he is aware of the influence he can have on the younger players, who are striving to hit the heights he reached as one of world football's elite strikers.
'I'm coming here to do my very best, as I told you, and I'm here to offer a little bit of my experience to the squad, to the manager, and I'm ready and willing to do the very best I can, and to give the best that I can give.
'So that's kind of my aim as I arrive here, very keen to make myself available to my team-mates. After that it depends on each individual, what they want to take on board and what they want to leave alone. That's a bit like how I see football.'
The Uruguayan has a commendable goalscoring record at former clubs PSG and Napoli, scoring 200 goals in 301 games for the Parisians, as well as 104 goals in 138 games in Italy.
'I hope I can score plenty, and I'll be working hard towards doing that,' he continued.
'I'm so keen and excited to get playing and competing again, and God willing, I can score goals, which is pretty important for everybody and also for me, as a striker. For the fans, for everyone.'
